MECHANICAL/RENEWABLE ENERGY ENGINEERING

Technically, mechanical engineering is the generation, transmission and utilization of mechanical power to produce, improve, maintain, and control machinery, processes and products Mechanical engineers apply the principles of motion energy and force to design and manufacture products that function safely, efficiently, and eliably at competitive costs.

Renewable energy is a mechanical engineering related discipline which deals with the generation, transmission and utilization of energy generated from natural processes that are continuously replenished. this includes sunlight, geothermal heat, wind, tides, water, and various forms of biomass. These forms of energy cannot be exhausted and are constantly renewed.

B. Sc. IN MECHANICAL/RENEWABLE ENERGY CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Renewable Energy (BS) program helps students develop practical skills and knowledge required to critically evaluate alternative energy sources, and provide applied solutions to the energy demand. The major is decidedly interdisciplinary in nature, focusing on the underlying natural processes relating to renewable energy and employing the scientific method.

Once Core course requirements the National Commission on Higher Education (52 credits) and Harbel College common courses (18 credits) have been met, students then complete the major (56 credits) by specializing in the area where the degree is sought:
